  • Members are required to register at the website and make a post in the About Me Forum (See Ranks for more info on requirements).
  • Members are expected to participate in discussions on the forum.
  • Members should keep up to date with events and other guild happenings by checking the website regularly.
  • Members who wish to participate in a raid are to sign up on the appropriate post (See Raid Etiquette for more on raid sign ups).

Ranks and Means to Promotion:

Trial Member: Once you have registered at the website, made your application post, had your interview with you class officer, and been invited to the guild, you will be a Recruit for several weeks. The purpose of this trial period is to determine whether you are a good fit for us, and more importantly, if we are the best fit for you.

Info for Trial Members:

  • Will be gkicked if inactive for 2 weeks without prior notification.
  • Will be gkicked if not to promoted to Villager after 5 weeks.
Requirements to Progress past Trial Member:
  • Be active in guild for a period of at least 2 but no more than 5 weeks.
  • Participation in guild chat and events
  • Demonstration of appropriate behavior at all times
  • Must make an About Me post on the website
  • Must run an instance appropriate to your level with an officer's toon of appropriate level

Villager - You are now a full-fledged member of the guild. Your only responsibilities now are to stay loyal to the guild, help out your guildies, and generally help make the game more fun for all of us (we promise we'll return the favor!)

Info for Villagers:
  • May request items from the guild bank
Requirements to Progress Past Villager:
  • Must be nominated by an officer for promotion.
  • May not have significant officer objection to promotion.

The majority of the guild will be Villagers. There is no advantage to being a Knight or an Officer in terms access to loot, gear, or raid slots. Only Villagers who are willing and able to take on greater responsibility, dedicate more effort, and make sacrifices (in time, gold, or DKP) for the betterment of the guild will be promoted past Villager.

Honor Guard - The Honor Guard is about recognition of service.  This rank is made up of guild members that have exemplified TCE guild membership and long-term loyalty.  Through their attitude, generosity, participation in guild events and demeanor, they have contributed consistently and positively to the day-to-day experience of ALL guild members, not necessarily just the social-minded or raiding groups.  Honor Guard members may not desire or be able to undertake advanced leadership roles, but through their continued service and support, have created and fostered the positive, welcoming attitude that is the cornerstone of The Cutting Edge.

Info for Honor Guard Members:
  • Honor Guard members must have shown a long-term commmitment to the guild, as well as consistent positive contribution through resources, general attitude and/or behavior.
Requirements to Progress past Honor Guard:
  • Must show the ability to successfully, benevolently and compassionately lead other guildmates in events or dungeon-related endeavors.
  • Must be nominated by an officer for promotion.
  • May not have ANY officer objection to promotion.

Knight - You have become a bigger part of the guild and can be counted on when needed and provide a rock solid base for the guild. You have started to show some leadership either in game or on the forums.

Info for Knights:
  • May hold guild jobs/officerships.
  • May be demoted instead of gkicked for non-major offenses (GLeader discretion).
  • Knights are encouraged to post and run their own guild events, and have privilege to start posts in the guild events forum calendar.  These events should hold to the following guidelines:
    • If picking up non-TCE members for raid or any event, the event sponsor is responsible for maintaining appropriate TCE conduct during the event.
    • The event sponsor is responsible for maintaining any sign-ups necessary.
    • The event sponsor after the event will post a short summary of how it went.
Requirements to Progress past Knight:
  • Must be nominated by an officer for promotion.
  • May not have ANY officer objection to promotion.
Advisor- You either were a Council member, or are a prime candidate for the position in the future.  Therefore, the requirements for this rank are similar to those for council.  You have limited access to officer channels, forums, and guild bank.

Council- You are an officer. You have shown some leadership and are now involved in the decision process for the guild. You set an example for other members with your level of participation, and your dedication to the guild.

Info for Council:
  • May access the officer channel in game.
  • May access the officer forums on web site.
  • May access the guild bank.
  • May add members to the guild.
  • May kick people from the guild.
  • May alter Message of the Day
Any character, main or alt, that is inactive for 3 months will be removed from the guild, unless prior arrangements are made with the officers.

Chat Decorum:
  • At all times remember that we are friends, while good nature ribbing may be funny, abusiveness will not be tolerated, nor will foul language, "explicit, adult content", racial slurs, or badgering.
  • Spamming and/or begging in ANY chat channel are not allowed. It is annoying in our channel and makes us all look bad in other channels.
  • If you ask for help with quests and instances in chat and no one is available to help at that time, further requests should be made in the help forum of the website, not repeatedly in chat.

Raid Etiquette:
  • At all times, follow instructions from the raid leader.
  • Only open fire after the attack is called by the main assist.
  • Do not purposely loot until all combat is done.
  • Loot distribution is determined by the loot captain, whose decision is final.
  • Always pass on all bind on pick up items.
  • Follow whatever special loot rules are set for that raid.
  • Participants are expected to sign up in advance on the appropriate post on the website.
  • The raid will begin at the posted start time and participants are expected to be ready to raid at that time.
  • Ready to raid means the you are fully repaired, have whatever reagents and/or ammo you need, and are at the portal.
  • Spots will be saved for those who have signed up in advance until the posted start time, after which the spot may be given away to another guildie.
  • Participants are expected to remain for the entire raid unless real life issues necessitate leaving.
  • Continued failure to abide by these rules may result in being kicked from the raid.

Loot Rules When Raid Loot System Doesn't Apply: http://www.tceguild.com/index.php?topic=84.msg247#msg247
  • Never loot until combat is over.
  • Always pass on all non-quest, BoP items.
  • For BoP quest items, if you need it roll need, otherwise pass.
  • Greed BoE items except set pieces and plans/recipes/schematics/etc.
  • Set pieces and plans/recipes/schematics/etc. go to a party member who needs them or to the bank otherwise.
  • If a BoE item that drops is actually an upgrade for you, roll greed as usual and then whisper whoever won it. They must give it to you.
  • Any item that is needed or requested must be equipped immediately. All schematics/recipes/plans/etc. must be learned immediately.
General Rules for Remaining in Good Standing:
These are some rules that probably seem obvious, but if broken will result in delayed promotion or /gkick, at any level:
  • Ninja looting at any time, with any group, guild or pug, will not be tolerated.
  • Claiming to need something and then selling it is dishonest and, as with any dishonesty, will result in immediate action.
  • Causing wipes happens and is understandable, but causing wipes on purpose, due to reckless behavior, or by failing to follow directions must not happen.
  • Abandoning a raid or instance midway without explanation or disconnect beyond your control is unacceptable.
  • Behavior layed out in the Chat Decorum section must be exercised at all times. Failure to do so indicates that this is not the guild for you.
LEAVING TCE:
If you should leave TCE, you shall be allowed one chance to return.  All ranks and privileges accrued in your previous time in the guild are lost, and you shall return as a Trial Member.  Exception: The first inactivity /gkick accrued does not count towards the one chance to return

Warnings will be issued if infractions occur. Repeated infractions will result in further action at the discretion of the officers.
Any action requires the agreement of 6 officers, and must include the Guild Leader.

These rules are subject to change if needed. Any changes will be posted here and accompanied by an announcement in News and Announcements.
